NYT Prompt 006: Guilty Pleasures

Prompt: Have you ever felt embarrassed by the things you used to like?

I was a 90’s child, so the answer to this question should be fairly obvious; there are a lot of things about the 90’s to be embarrassed about. In fact, there is one thing I liked during my childhood that I still consider a guilty pleasure: boy bands. 90’s boy bands, in particular. I don’t care much for today’s pop stars, but give me some N*Sync, Backstreet Boys, or 98 Degrees, and I’ll jam out until the break of dawn.

I was a pretty big fan of the Spice Girls, too. It wasn’t until the 2000s though that I got into any female singers, and when I did I was heavy into Hillary Duff, of all people.  I used to listen to her CD on repeat, and I can’t recall actually telling anyone I liked her music.

Other than that I can’t really think of much else – probably because I’ve forgotten a lot of the things that used to embarrass me. I was also a fairly private child so there wasn’t a whole lot of opportunity to feel embarrassed.
