Review: In Memory of Greed by Al Boudreau (#RT, #Goodreads, #pubwrite)

After months and months (almost a year, actually) of promising to read In Memory of Greed, I was finally able to purchase it. I had read the reviews and I consider the author, Al Boudreau, to be a very dear friend. It is certainly a purchase I do not regret making. I don’t do “stars” for my reviews, as I see stars to be hardly more than a label and they cannot do great books the justice they deserve. That said, In Memory of Greed, has been one of the best books I’ve read so far this year. I’m going [...]

Review: Season of the Harvest by Michael R. Hicks (#goodreads #RT)

Once again, Michael R. Hicks has amazed me with his talent. I’ll admit it did take me some time to finish reading Season of the Harvest, but I did complete it. (My e-reader vanished, reappeared, wouldn’t charge, etc.) I was not disappointed. In Season of the Harvest, Hicks takes something that seems so trivial in our everyday life and turns it into something so bone-chillingly scary (in a science fiction way, not a gory horror way) that it leaves the reader wondering if it could really happen. When an amazing scientific break-through of questionable means surfaces, genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are [...]

Review: In Her Name: Confederation by Michael R. Hicks (#goodreads, #RT)

I finally got around to continuing with the In Her Name series and, once more, I’m in awe of the world Hicks has created. I must admit though, Confederation is probably my least favorite in the trilogy that recounts the life of the Kreelan-Human hybrid, Reza Gard. While I enjoyed the story and could not put it down, I was at a loss for how little of Esah-Zhurah’s side of things that the reader experienced. Of course, I had a soft spot for the alien. In In Her Name: Confederation, Reza Gard returns to humanity and is honed by humanity [...]

Review: Loose Ends by A.J. Powers (#goodreads, #pubwrite #RT)

If you’re looking for a lengthy novel full of fluff and romance where character relationships get a little steamy, then this isn’t for you. However, if you’re looking for something action packed with unexpected twists that leave you curling your fists in rage, then you might definitely want to consider the purchase of Loose Ends by A.J. Powers, which can be purchased here at Smashwords.com. Eric Caldwell is an assassin. He is hired to kill people and he does it ruthlessly. Cold and perfectly trained to succeed with his tasks at hand, Caldwell stops at nothing to deliver. Even if [...]

Review: In Her Name: Empire by Michael R. Hicks (#goodreads, #RT)

I’ve never been a huge science fiction fan when it comes to the book world. While I may watch Syfy often, and I may watch shows with aliens and spaceships, I could never bring myself to read it. That is, until I met author Michael R. Hicks and I discovered his novel In Her Name: Empire. When I first downloaded it to my iPhone’s Stanza reader via a promotion, I was curious, if that. I figured it was free, the author seems nice, I might as well take a look. Little did I know that I would soon become so [...]
