If you’re looking for a lengthy novel full of fluff and romance where character relationships get a little steamy, then this isn’t for you. However, if you’re looking for something action packed with unexpected twists that leave you curling your fists in rage, then you might definitely want to consider the purchase of Loose Ends by A.J. Powers, which can be purchased here at Smashwords.com.
Eric Caldwell is an assassin. He is hired to kill people and he does it ruthlessly. Cold and perfectly trained to succeed with his tasks at hand, Caldwell stops at nothing to deliver. Even if his relationship with the target becomes personal. When Parkland and Howell hire him to take out one of their own employees, Caldwell doesn’t ask too many questions. Getting the information is simple enough, especially with help from Rebekah: a tech-savvy woman who is every bit brains as she is looks. Unfortunately, the more they discover about the man, the more disgusted they become.
As the novella progresses, the reader also meets, with the exception of the target, another well-educated woman named Elayna Petrova: another employee at Parkland and Howell who does her own research.
Lately, I’ve had a lot of things on my mind and in my hands which has left me with little time to read. Despite that, Loose Ends has kept me glued to my iPhone (I use Stanza reader, as I’ve not got the funds for a real e-reader). I shared the disgust that Rebekah and Eric felt toward their target, I shared the moments of fear. I also fell in love with Rebekah who, as I said before, is every bit brains as she is looks. In fact, it’s clear Eric’s job would be a lot harder without her.
A.J. Powers did wonders with this fascinating and short piece of work. He manages to keep a person entertained, even without fluffing up the piece. The depth he goes to with describing the lifestyle of their target left my skin crawling. He also left my mind screaming with rage at him, but in a good way!
If you want to find out why, simply purchase the book through Smashwords here and see for yourself. At only .99 cents, it’s definitely a bargain and worth every penny! (Or whatever your lowest form of currency is.)
